Riverside Pirate Ship
Refurbishment of a community playground pirate ship, featuring upgraded safety elements, brand-new decking, and high-quality refreshed finishes, bringing the structure back to life as a safe, durable, and engaging space for years of enjoyment.
The brief
Moonee Valley City Council engaged us to refurbish the timber pirate ship at Riverside Playground, Essendon. We replaced the worn decking, upgraded the timber masts with durable steel posts, and completed structural repairs to improve safety and extend the life of this much-loved community feature.
How we built it
We first removed the old decking to access the structure and prepare for the upgrade works. We then replaced the existing timber masts with new steel masts before installing new decking boards across the ship’s decks. The structure was finished with safety repairs and final adjustments, restoring the pirate ship ready for continued community use.
The outcome
The pirate ship was returned to the community with new decking underfoot, upgraded steel masts, and the required safety improvements completed. The project was handed back to council clean, safe, and ready for playground reopening.
