Frankston Arts Centre
Timber cladding and seating installation at Frankston Arts Centre, including fit-off of hardwood seat slats with clean detailing and secure fixings, integrated into the hardwood deck.
The brief
The Frankston Arts Centre needed timber bench seating built into the deck, and we came in on the back of the steelwork to clad and install it. The seats had to sit clean against the existing deck and stand up to a public venue, so the Blackbutt had to be set out straight and the fixings kept tidy.
How we built it
We clad the seat frames in 135x32 Blackbutt, working off the steel that had already been fabricated, then installed the finished seats into the deck. Boards were run to line, spacings kept even and the timber fixed down so it sat flush and solid. Every seat was set true before it was locked in.
The outcome
Bench seating clad in Blackbutt and fixed into the deck, straight and solid for a public venue. Handed back to the Centre finished and ready to use.
