Hume Anglican Grammar
Construction of an undercover walkway at Hume Grammar, providing continuous weather protection across key student pathways. Works included post install, structural framing and integration with existing access routes to ensure safe and practical movement throughout the campus.
The brief
Hume Anglican Grammar brought us in to build a new undercover walkway through their Mickleham campus, running along the existing paths to link the classroom buildings across the open grounds. The school stayed open the whole way through, so we worked behind temp fencing, kept the walkways clear for students and staff, and left the site safe at the end of each day.
How we built it
We set out the post line down the existing concrete paths, dug and poured the footings, then stood the charcoal steel posts. Galvanised beams and rafters were run between the posts and tied back into the existing building lines, with every bay checked for plumb and level before the roof sheeting went on to keep the walkway covered. The work was staged around the school day to keep the paths open and the grounds clear.
The outcome
A covered walkway running the length of the campus, keeping students and staff out of the weather between buildings. Steel straight and true, footings solid, and the grounds handed back clean.
